Family Vacations, there's nothing better.

We spent a week with Michele (Brian's sister) and her family. They have lived out of town for 8 years. We all miss them so much. We had such a wonderful time. We played games, hiked, swam, fished and ate. It was very hard to say good bye.

Brian's grandma gave all of her great grandkids the same swim suits. Aren't they adorable;) Seriously, she is the sweetest lady in the world. My favorite sayings from her are "Precious little angels" and "Little blessings". She always tells the little kids how "darling" they are. I love it!!

This isn't the biggest or the best pic I have but I still wanted to wish Laura the BEST birthday yet. I hope it is a wonder day filled with lots of love!! Love you, Laura:)

Except, my mother in law can call anytime. I love chatting with her. She has the greenest thumb I've ever seen. Her grass is even and green. (Both problems I have yet to figure out) Her flower beds are beautiful. She has perenials that bloom throughout the season and annuls that add more color. Ahh, I love her yard. :)

She can paint like nobodies business. She painted Calvin's room for me. She is a fun and energetic grandma. My grandparents were much older because I was one of the youngest. Brooklyn is the oldest on Brian's side. She spends a lot of time with them. She plays with them, teaches and snuggles with them. She is willing to do anything for all of us. I feel very fortunate to have such a great relationship with her.
I guess this ended up as a shout out to Brian's mom. :)

Calvin and the HAT

Calvin's (and his buddy Jaren) new thing to do is wear their hats backwards with their bangs poking out the hole in the back where you adjust the size. He had to wear his hat during his soccer game. He spent the whole game checking to make sure his hair was just right. Forget the ball man, how's my hair? It was the most entertaining game I've been to. I laughed my butt off the whole game.

He doesn't play the game at all yet. He fiddles with his clothes, pulls his socks above his knees and tries to pull the grass out using the cleats on the bottom of his shoes.

It's going to be a GREAT season. I think he has awesome potential to be a good player. He is fast. During practice the team was using his ball. He didn't understand and took off after his ball. He cruised past the other players. Do you think we can use his ball in the game? It might help keep him focused. :)

The Cost of Winning

I was looking at the Deseret Book Summer Catalog that came in the mail today. The 3rd page has a this book. It is so true. (altleast for me :) This is what the ad says, "Life is not a contest. Yet it's amazing how much time we spend chasing after the earthly prizes, possessions and achievements that not only don't matter but actually distance us from the Lord."

I realize how far I am straying from what's important. I need to go back to what's best for my family. I need to be a better example of a person of faith, prayer, honesty, patience, trust, service, humility, forgiveness, repentance, etc. Aah, the list is endless but I am willing to work on it.

I need a VACATION :S

I am spiraling down, down, down......you get the point. I have been looking forward to getting away for a camping trip during the Memorial weekend with my parents. We do this every year. It is such a fun way to start the summer. There is lots of people, lots of food and lots of fun. I need to get away this year. I need to do something different than what I do everyday. I need.....am I selfish or what.

Anyways, my parents are getting older and my dads mysterious illness has pretty much stopped him in his tracks. My mom has destroyed her shoulders caring for the patience at work. They get the basics done but anything beyond that they need help with.

My mom called me completely frustrated with the whole trip and was ready to cancel the whole thing. She has been asking my brother, who lives two houses down, to help her. He is too busy to return all the stuff he borrowed that she needs to pack. Like the propane tanks he is using for his BBQ. Kind of need those for the trailer. Meanwhile, she is babysitting his kids every day.

So, I rush off to help her. We gather all the propane tanks, load them into my dad's truck, get them filled, put them back into the trailers, haul all of the boxes of eating necessities into the trailers and walk away with man-dirty hands. Gross!!!

I am just so angry right now. At what? I have no idea but I am not pleasant to be around. Brian has been a saint. He has been around, not to close (who would want to be) but enough to be able to help out when I need it. He has been great to let me get out and run (my saving grace). I need (again all about me;) to disappear for a while. Phew....thanks for letting me vent. :S
